One day before Navratri, Goddess Durga is invoked to descend on Earth. This day is called Mahalaya, which in 2025 falls on 21 September. The next day, 22 September, Navratri begins. Navratri will end on 1 October, followed by Vijayadashami the next day. According to religious beliefs, when Goddess Durga comes to Earth for nine days, she arrives on a specific vehicle and departs on a specific vehicle. • Elephant: If Navratri starts on Monday or Sunday, Goddess Durga arrives on an elephant. It brings good rainfall and prosperity to the nation.

10 Remedies to Please Goddess Durga

• Worship Goddess Durga every morning and evening, and light a ghee lamp.
• Observe fasts for nine days during Navratri if possible.
• Keep an unbroken flame (Akhanda Jyoti) burning in the house for nine days.
• Recite one mala or more of Navarna Mantra daily. You may also chant the Beej Mantra Om Hreem Dum Durgayai Namah.
• Use a red seat while worshipping Goddess Durga.
• Offer hibiscus or red flowers to Goddess Durga during worship.
• Offer milk mixed with honey to Goddess Durga every morning.
• Perform Kanya Pujan on Ashtami and Navami and offer them food.
