In 2024, Navratri begins on October 3rd. On the first day of Navratri, Mata Shailaputri is worshiped. She is known as the daughter of the Himalayas, which is why she is named Shailaputri. This form of Mata Parvati is described as when she went on a penance to win Lord Shiva. It is believed that worshiping Mata Shailaputri brings determination in life and helps in focusing on all tasks. Reciting her mantra is considered very effective to please Mata, who grants success in all endeavors. On the first day of Navratri, worshiping Mata Shailaputri fulfills all kinds of wishes.
Before worshiping Mata Shailaputri, one should set up a sacred space (Chouki) for her. Place her photo on this sacred space (Chouki) and light a ghee Diya near the photo. Chant Mata's mantra during this time. The divine mantras from Durga Saptashati can also be chanted. Offer halwa and seasonal fruits as prasad to Mata.
