Puja
The second day of Navratri 2025 will be celebrated on 23rd September. On this day, devotees worship Maa Brahmacharini, the form of Goddess Durga who represents penance, devotion, and discipline.
This form of the goddess shows her intense meditation and tapasya to attain Lord Shiva as her husband. Worshipping Maa Brahmacharini brings balance, wisdom, and inner strength. To please her, devotees observe fasts and chant her sacred mantras with complete devotion. It is believed that Maa blesses her devotees quickly when they worship her with a pure heart.
In her previous birth, Goddess Parvati was born as the daughter of King Himavan and Queen Maina. Guided by Sage Narada, she undertook severe penance to please Lord Shiva and accept him as her husband.
Her tapasya was extremely intense. For the first thousand years, she survived only on fruits and flowers. For the next hundred years, she lived only on leafy vegetables. Later, she gave up food and water completely and continued her meditation without sleep or rest for several years.
Pleased by her unmatched devotion, Lord Shiva finally appeared and accepted her as his consort. From then on, this form of the goddess came to be known as Maa Brahmacharini – the goddess of penance and devotion.
