Puja
On the third day of Sharadiya Navratri, i.e., 24 September 2025, devotees worship Maa Chandraghanta. This third form of Maa Durga looks extremely enchanting and grants supreme peace. Maa bears a crescent moon on her forehead, shaped like a bell. According to some beliefs, this is why she received the name Chandraghanta. People believe Maa balances the entire universe.
Maa’s form looks highly captivating. A crescent moon shaped like a bell adorns her forehead. Her body shines like gold, known as Hiranyavarna. Maa has ten hands and holds lotus, bow, sword, kamandalu, blade, trident, and mace as her weapons. She stands in a battle-ready posture and governs the Manipura Chakra.
When anyone faces problems in life, worshiping Maa grants peace. Devotees believe that the sound of the bell plays a vital role in Maa’s worship. With Maa’s blessings, the divine resonance of the bell removes all worries and negativity. In meditation and yoga, the sacred sound of Maa’s bell holds great importance.
Although Maa’s form stands ready for battle, she bestows deep motherly love. Her first form is Shailputri and her second form is Brahmacharini, during which she performed penance to attain Lord Shiva. Her third form represents Adi Shakti after attaining Lord Shiva. Maa loves the color red, so devotees use red flowers and red clothes in her worship.
