In Hindu tradition, Amavasya holds great importance. It is known as the day dedicated to honoring ancestors across all Puranas. Performing Pitru Puja on this day is believed to bring happiness and prosperity. Additionally, special worship of Lord Shiva, chanting Durga Mantras, and various Tantra rituals can be observed. However, if you prefer not to engage in elaborate rituals, there are simple remedies you can follow on Amavasya that can yield significant benefits. Here are some straightforward practices you can try:
Amavasya occurs every month, but when it falls on a Monday, it is referred to as Somvati Amavasya. Among all the Amavasyas, Somvati Amavasya is considered the most significant. Taking a holy dip in rivers and making donations on this day is highly valued. Performing Rudrabhishek for Lord Shiva on Somvati Amavasya is believed to fulfill all desires. The last Somvati Amavasya of 2024 will take place on December 30.
When Amavasya falls on a Saturday, it is known as Shanichari Amavasya. This particular Amavasya is also regarded as very important in astrology. On this day, devotees worship Lord Shani and offer mustard oil as a donation. Chanting mantras related to Shani is said to yield positive results during Shani’s Mahadasha, Antardasha, and transit. Additionally, on Saturday Amavasya, lighting a lamp near a Peepal tree in the evening and praying for the future is considered beneficial. We can also perform Shani Puja on this day.
You can enhance your future by performing specific remedies based on your zodiac sign on Amavasya. Here are the remedies for each zodiac:
Aries (Mesha): If you are an Aries, consider donating red fruits for your ancestors on Amavasya. Additionally, light a sesame oil lamp at a Shiva temple.
