The Amavasya festival is particularly important for seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva, especially when it falls on a Monday, known as Somvati Amavasya. According to mythological traditions, this day is of great significance. It is customary to take a bath and meditate in sacred rivers, as this practice is believed to cleanse one of all unknowingly committed sins. Among all Amavasyas, Somvati Amavasya is regarded as the most important.
