Triyuginarayan – The Seven Rounds Were Taken Here

Triyuginarayan Temple, located in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand, is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva took seven rounds with Mata Parvati. According to mythological beliefs, the Triyuginarayan Temple was established during the Treta Yuga. This temple is closely associated with Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.

Triyuginarayan – The Belief

According to mythological stories, Mata Parvati was the daughter of King Himavat. Mata Parvati wanted to marry Lord Shiva. To achieve this, Mata Parvati performed severe penance. Pleased with her penance, Lord Shiva agreed to marry her. After this, Mata Parvati and Lord Shiva took seven rounds in the Triyuginarayan Temple. It is believed that the fire that witnessed their wedding still burns today.

Lord Vishnu Was Present

According to the mythological stories, Lord Vishnu attended the marriage of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati as Mata Parvati’s brother. He also performed all the rituals. During this, Lord Brahma served as the priest. This is why the place of the wedding is also known as Brahma Shila, which is situated right in front of the Triyuginarayan Temple.

Three Water Tanks Were Created

Before the marriage, three water tanks were built for the bath of the deities. These are known as Rudra Kund, Vishnu Kund, and Brahma Kund. Water from the Saraswati Kund flows into these three tanks. The Saraswati Kund is said to have originated from the nostrils of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that bathing in this tank helps individuals attain the bliss of having children.
